The Endeavor had no problem pushing and pulling itself through deep sand, never hanging up like some car-based SUVs will in the same circumstance. Its offroad prowess has as much to do with its sophisticated AWD system as its impressive 211 mm (8.3 in) ground clearance, better than some pureblooded 4x4s.

As just mentioned the Endeavor is available in 2WD, helping to get the price down for those who don't need AWD traction - BTW, the full-time AWD system uses a spider gear and full-time viscous coupling transfer method to realize a 50/50 torque split. Other than a tiny AWD badge on the rear liftgate there's no differences in appearance when either drive configuration is chosen. It doesn't matter whether you opt for 2WD or AWD as far as trim levels are concerned either, they're all available.

I love the optional saddle-color leather seats and door panels. The overall effect, combined with its contrasting black leather steering wheel and shift knob, plus its bright metallic interior accents, makes for an extremely upscale environment.

Choose either the XLS or LTD versions over the base LS and you'll be in for a treat both outside and in, as the level of features and appearance accents move the model way up the desirability scale. While LS base models come with air-conditioning and CD audio, their standard black bumper garnish gets replaced by chromed bumper caps when moving up to the XLS. The intermediate model also gets premium fabric upholstery, a power driver's seat and the previously mentioned premium audio system with steering wheel mounted controls. The center console includes a 124 mm (4.9 in) color display with ambient temperature and compass readouts while the rear cargo area receives a retractable tonneau cover. Roof rack crossbeams round out its functional features while a leather package including both rows of seats, door trim, the shift knob and steering wheel joins a large glass sunroof, side impact airbags and alarm system as some of its options.
