
Holding its aluminum body panels in place is a revolutionary new carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque and sub-frame. This provides the perfect combination of body rigidity and minimized weight, important elements in achieving the new Porsche's stellar levels of performance.
Like the German brand's current top-line models the GT will deliver stopping power via Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). Ceramics are also put to use in the drivetrain. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC) is highly efficient while reduced in size compared to traditional clutch assemblies. What's more it produces amazing braking performance with imperceptible fade after repeated high-speed stops. Framing the brakes is a set of four ultra-light forged magnesium wheels wrapped in 265/35 ZR 19 high-performance tires up front and 335/30 ZR 20's in the rear.
In traditional Porsche style the interior is beautifully designed but understated, also to reduce weight. With that same objective carbon-fiber has been employed for the roadster's two-piece roof. To let the sunshine in both 2.4 kg panels need to be removed and stored in the front trunk.
So when can you expect to charge up that platinum card? The first Carrera GTs should begin rolling out of Porsche's Leipzig facility in Q4 of 2003.
