H2 SUT will get its motive force from GM's 6.0-liter, Vortec 6000 V8 , which delivers 316 hp at 5200 rpm, 360 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm, and pretty poor fuel economy ratings under any circumstances. Bear in mind that this thing weighs over 2900 kg all by itself.
The V8 is mounted longitudinally (meaning the pistons are lined up parallel to the wheels) and mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65-E four-speed automatic overdrive transmission with full-time all-wheel drive.
In Hernandez's view, the "exceptional off-road capability and versatility in the SUT allows Hummer owners the ultimate opportunity for adventure," and he's undoubtedly right. But it also allows big-budget buyers the ultimate opportunity for envy.
