The idea including Motorola in Maserati's new concept car came about when Pininfarina Extra, an industrial design division

within the Pininfarina design house which was in charge of styling the car's interior, thought the opportunity of including one of its other customers was too good to pass up. Pininfarina Extra was already working on Motorola's newest line of cell phones featuring iDEN technology.

The iDEN phones, incidentally, combine wireless phone connectivity access to Internet, a text pager, plus two-way radio communication that allow users instantaneous communication with one or more individuals merely by pressing a button on the side of the phone. To make a long story short, now Motorola's seamless mobility technology has been integrated into Maserati's stunning new concept car, and the rest is history.

Speaking of history, a variety of classic Maseratis also took part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including a 1948 Maserati 4CLT and 1956 250F competing in the Classic Grand Prix Cars Category, a 1953 Maserati A6GCS in the Elegant Endurance Aerodynes Category, plus a 1974 Maserati Quattroporte II in the Cartier Style et Luxe Concours - all extremely rare cars.
