Luckily for the buying public the Type S car will not be produced in limited numbers. Unlucky for those in North America and Europe the coupe most likely won't make it outside of Japan. If Mazda however decides to sell it here, the expected price tag is expected to be slightly higher than the open-topped version - a move that would also fly in the face of tradition, where convertibles almost always command a stronger price than their coupe counterparts.

Being an enthusiast who lives in North America, I say bring it over. No doubt Mazda would find enough willing performance car buyers to substantiate a business case, especially if they managed to offer a stripped down version at a lower price than the roadster. After all, try to find a relatively cheap rear-wheel drive performance coupe to compete against it. It doesn't exist.

Let's hope the Japanese brand is just testing their domestic market before launching the Miata Coupe on our continent. If you happen to like it, make sure to let someone at Mazda know.
