But now, new Saturn products, such as the 2005 Relay mid-size van, shares its platform with three other GM vans, while the recently introduced ION will shares its architecture a basic components with the upcoming Chevy Cobalt.
Now, GM is taking the non-brand and non-marketing functions of Saturn, such as its design, engineering, procurement and supply departments, and are moving them into the GM system, Lutz said.
It will be interesting to see how such integration effects Saturn build quality and in the end, sales.
