includes ABS brakes, stability control and curtain airbags for all six passengers. Suzuki has used the Concept X to display several new safety technologies like active cruise control, a lane-departure warning signal, and dual, heat-sensing perimeter CCD cameras linked to a driver warning system. Suzuki has also fitted an On-Star-like automated help system which automatically dials 911 in the event of a collision, airbag deployment or vehicle theft.

Looking nderneath the hood of the concept SUV reveals an all-new aluminum block 3.6-litre DOHC V6 motor that provides best-in-class power. Though Suzuki claims that it is newly developed, it's believed that the engine has been borrowed from GM's European modular V6 engine series.

to General Motors, it's expected that the engine used in the Concept X is the same DOHC, mult-valve V6 found in the Cadillac CTS, STS, and SRX, as well as the Saturn Aura concept which also debuted at the Detroit Auto Show. Power is routed through a five-speed automatic transmission.

Like all Suzuki SUVs past and present, the Concept X puts off-roading capabilities amongst its priorities. Though a separate shifter gate to control the transfer case won't be featured in the Concept X, it has a new 4WD system which Suzuki (ironically) calls '4GO'. In normal conditions, the system delivers the sure-footed grip of permanent all-wheel drive. However, should the going get tough, a low-range 'on demand' function is available.
