Adding to the top-line GS 430's performance will be standard 18-inch alloy rims on grippy low-profile performance tires, plus a lower front lip spoiler incorporating fog lamps.

On the inside, the GS features a wonderfully clean and uncluttered dash. It will be unique in its class, but still emitting the warmth of character normally associated with Lexus cars. High-grade plastics combine with authentic wood and aluminum trim, highlighted by rich leathers. No doubt the car's interior switchgear will be among the best in the class, as the current car is already there. It would be difficult to believe the luxury brand that's on the continual pursuit of perfection would take a step backwards in quality.

The car is reportedly larger inside though, with special attention paid to shoulder and hip room throughout, as well as leg and headroom for rear passengers. The seats up front will make a climate control option available, no doubt similar in execution to the system that comes as part of the superb LS. A 10-speaker audio system by Mark Levinson, one of the best of its kind in the industry, will also be available. It will feature what Lexus calls, "simple steering wheel controls."

Einstein considered the simplest things the most intelligently conceived, which should make Lexus engineers feel proud. The carmaker enhances the new model's livability with new technologies such as keyless SmartAccess, automatically unlocking the car when the driver approaches a specific door and touches a button on the handle. The same process locks it. To start the engine, all that is needed is to press the start button, provided the key fob is in the driver's pocket. I've used the system in the new LS and it's extremely handy.
