Conclusion

How does the MDX stack up to its plethora of fully-equipped, all-wheel drive rivals? Let's just say that it's among the best of this lucrative segment. Although they're all good choices, competition is fierce.

The prestigious Japanese automaker has hit the bull's-eye with this vehicle.

Everyone who stepped in the MDX during its stay with me frowned when I told them how much it cost. However, their reaction was unanimous: "I could very well see this truck parked in my driveway."

In short, the MDX excels in everything you ask it to do, and you quickly get attached to it. But if you don't need the costly gadgets like the navigation system, the rear-seat DVD as well as the power tailgate, the $52,300 base MDX will make you perfectly happy for less money.

Ultra-comfortable suspension
Great rear-seat DVD entertainment system
Real space for 7 adults

Reduced rear visibility
Backup camera not very useful
Heated rear seats don't shut off by themselves

High price of the Elite model
