S-Line package brings out the sporty side of Audi's A6 sedan

The "standard" A6 4.2 is a handsome-looking machine, though just a little sedate-looking when parked next to a more-expressive BMW or Mercedes. Compared to these, the A6 looks the least like a performance car, or the most like a sleeper--depending on your perspective.

For a bit more stand-out factor, Audi has made available an "S-Line" kit intended to step up the A6's presence and bring draw more of the machine's performance out to the visual front.

The S-Line package includes distinctive bumpers, paddle shifters, 18" alloy wheels and a sport suspension.

S-Line

Or sport-line, is priced at $3,450 and includes distinctive front and rear bumpers, an S-Line badge on the grille and door sills, paddle shifters and gray birch wood trim. There are also a set of 18" alloy wheels attached to a sport suspension to help the machine dig its talons even more confidently into the road. The S-line kit, though not a must-have option, makes the A6's performance intentions more clear and lowers the average age of those who turn their heads or check it out in parking lots.

Luxury
The interior is an exercise in assembly aptness, without a single millimeter of misaligned panel work--and Audi's pride in a well-crafted and thoughtful cabin is apparent as usual. There's room enough all around, though the back can become a tad smug with 3 people.

Front passengers are treated to a set of heated, power-adjustable leather seats, the driver's side equipped with a memory function. A small drawer is fitted under each seat too--a good thing as the centre console is fairly small, and the glovebox looses space to a CD changer.

Items larger than your cell phone and coffee change can stay in the cavernous trunk.

A beautiful Bose audio system with satellite radio handles music duty, attached to a Multi Media Interface or MMI system to assign most of the A6's functions to a central control system that also works the navigation and wireless phone. A backup camera and parking system was installed too, as was push-button engine start.

The A6's cabin is expertly crafted and assembled.
