Challenging The ''X'' Factor
Placing the vehicle in gear and setting it free really emphasized its premium-level smoothness and refinement. Ride comfort was most agreeable. Regrettably though, it was marred by a "thumpy" rear suspension setup. This auditory intrusion--while by no means excessive--was disappointing given the otherwise quiet, solid, secure atmosphere experienced within the plush cabin.

The quiet cabin is marred by a noisy suspension setup.

Like most SUVs that prioritize ride comfort over handling performance, the Veracruz isn't suited to high speed cornering the way that Acura's RDX is, yet it's sure-footed enough to keep the masses well satisfied. Emergency braking maneuvers were executed with little nosedive and plenty of progressive, predictable pedal feel.

Wrap
The Veracruz will undoubtedly be a winner for Hyundai, and those having the good sense to save money over the purchase of higher-priced luxury brands. It is stuffed with far too much content to list here. And its level of operational refinement needs to be experienced--not read about--to be properly appreciated.

Smooth refined performance
Luxury to the max
Excellent value

Slightly thumpy suspension
Mediocre handling
