The all-new XK just recently made its debut and no sooner was that done that they tore the roof off and called it a convertible. In fact, the engineers at Jaguar designed both the coupe and drop-top at the same time.
Both versions share the same 4.2L V8 powertrain. With an output rating of 300 hp, the dead-sexy convertible should help move more cars out of the slow-moving Jaguar showrooms. Mated to the V8 is the same manu-matic paddle-controlled 6-speed transmission.
The top is a conventional canvas material as opposed to an in-vogue retractable and folding hard top. Getting the top down takes less than 18 seconds.
The aluminium body structure is 50% stiffer than its predecessor.
The XK Coupe (already 4,000 ordered) base price will be US$75,500 and the Convertible will be priced at US$81,500.
