recent past with a solid, quality feel to every moving part. The many controls become intuitive before long and the only recurring complaint from hours of highway driving is a lack of firmness in the seats. No problems were noted with visibility, and backing up in parking lots was a cinch with the large, tall rear window.

I came away thoroughly impressed from my time with the Passat 3.6 wagon. Aside from a few very minor issues, it did well at satisfying a very diverse set of needs with no one area giving itself up to any other. When the kids are all dropped off, and Mom or Dad have time behind the wheel alone, it satisfies appetites for pavement with its velvety and harmonious engine.

Driving enthusiasts have families too. That being the case, few wagons make more sense.

What's Hot:
Power, engine sounds exotic, build quality, gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets, confident AWD performance, understated looks

Concerns:
Drivers seat could be more supportive, occasional gearbox clunk, sometimes fussy nav-system, rear power hatch requires significant force to engage safety sensor.
