The current generation Highlander SUV debuted in 2001 and has enjoyed considerable sales success and a productive life. Sought after by those looking for Toyota's brand of reliability and quality matched with a rugged and capable 4x4 system, the Highlander was even available as a gas-saving hybrid model.
Alongside the Prius and Camry Hybrid, this gives Toyota the only three-vehicle hybrid lineup in the industry.
The automaker recently announced that it would premier the completely redesigned Highlander and corresponding Hybrid model SUV's next month at the Chicago Auto Show. Hybrid SUV's are becoming more popular as they represent a relatively higher potential for fuel savings versus a smaller hybrid car.
A press conference will take place at 9:15AM on February 7th, and a video clip will be available following the event on Toyota's website.
The 2008 Highlander may face competition from a new Dodge crossover scheduled for 2008, along with the highly celebrated Ford Edge which is on sale now.
