The ride is stiff while allowing the car to absorb road imperfections and maximize grip. In fact, Mitsubishi called upon reputed companies by equipping the car with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs.

Handling is well-balanced; not only has the heft of the chassis been studied, but certain elements have been relocated to the rear of the car, like the battery and washer fluid tank, in order to move closer to a 50/50 weight distribution. However, on the road, tire noise is fairly high.

Driving assist goodies, like the S-AWC all-wheel drive system, are impressive. The ACD (Active Center Differential) controls the torque distribution between front and rear axles. Thanks to a hydraulic multi-plate clutch, the system channels torque up to a 50:50 split front and rear. The AYC (Active Yaw Control) system also reduces the yaw rate of the rear end, distributing torque between the rear wheels as needed.

In addition, thanks to a wheel-mounted rocker switch, the driver can choose between three types of road conditions: TARMAC for dry roads or on the track, GRAVEL for wet roads of limited-grip surfaces, and SNOW for snowy or icy roads. On the watered-down skidpad put to our disposal at the Mont-Tremblant racetrack, the Lancer Evolution is unflappable.

The Brembo brakes are obviously very effective and include front and rear electronic force distribution. The brakes proved fade-free during the hot laps around the racetrack, which provides hours of fun-filled racing.

Perfect driving position
Rearward visibility is reduced with its large rear wing. The seats are competition-spec, as they wrap around one's body, which results in an exceptional driving position.

We just wish that the shift paddles would turn along with steering wheel, because they're no longer within finger's reach when we're exiting an apex.
