The 2008 Rogue is a small crossover vehicle aimed squarely at the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
It borrows much of its overall looks and styling from the larger Murano. It is based on the same Global C platform as the current generation Sentra, jointly designed with Renault. The Rogue will feature a large number of safety features which are actually quickly becoming the norm. They include six airbags, traction and stability control and ABS brakes.
The Rogue can seat 5 passengers in its roomy-for-the-segment cabin. The 2nd row 60/40 bench folds down to reveal a large trunk that features an optional sub-floor cargo organizer that pops up at the push of a button.
Powered by the same 170-hp 2.5-liter inline-4 engine as the Altima, the Rogue will also feature Nissan's Xtronic CVT transmission. Steering-wheel mounted paddle-shifters will be an option. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations will be available.
The Rogue will hit dealers in late fall of 2007 as a 2008 model.
