3 - Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
While Porsche and Hybrid hardly seem to fit in the same sentence, the Stuttgart-based automaker has long promised a hybrid variant of the big Cayenne S that would make no compromise in terms of power or performance. A 333-horsepower gasoline engine teams up with a 52-horsepower electric motor to propel the vehicle swiftly and efficiently. This is no concept; the Cayenne Hybrid will soon arrive in Porsche showrooms.
4 - BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics
Closer to a race car than a green car, the Vision Efficient Dynamics is a one-of-a-kind concept motivated by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbodiesel engine paired with two electric motors. Total output is estimated at 356 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. As BMW points out, it’s an all-wheel drive with the first electric motor driving the front wheels and the second one mounted on the rear axle. As for styling, futuristic is the word. There simply isn’t anything quite like it on the road right now. It’s a shame, isn’t it?
5 - Lexus LF-Ch
Two things make the little LF-Ch stand out. The first is obviously its hybrid powertrain derived from the new HS 250 (Lexus kept silent about it, however). But more importantly, this could very well mark the brand’s first successful foray into the small car segment, with fuel economy and low emissions as its premise. Lexus would finally have a premium compact to rival BMW’s 1-Series, for example. The future is indeed green at Lexus.
