The cockpit of the car draws mixed opinions. Some of us find the dashboard of adequate quality, while others among us find it a little on the cheap side, especially when comparing it to similar competitors. The roofline is low, but headroom is sufficient for most people. The back seat is both roomy and comfortable for three occupants.
Conclusion
A major makeover would have been preferable to catch up to the strongest competition, but since Mitsubishi is still surfing on the waves caused by the Lancer and Outlander, and with the intro of the Lancer Evolution, it's got its hands full right now.
Priced from just under $24,000, the Galant is an interesting alternative to the major players in the mid-size segment. The $33,000 Ralliart is the most tantalizing version, obviously. Compared to the 2007 Galant (there was no 2008 model in Canada), this new model has dropped in price; the base model is $1,000 lower, while the Ralliart costs $2,000 less.
