The cockpit looks fairly plain, by the way. The easy-to-read gauges received chrome rings but that’s not what I would call a touch of refinement. Likewise, the controls as a whole put function over form. There are some nice additions to report, including automatic climate control and Bluetooth connectivity, but nothing to get really excited about.
Oh, and before I forget, I must tell you that the small tab for opening the fuel filler door is still lodged between the seats. Remember that, or else you’ll spend hours searching for it!

"What a feeling…"
The Mazda MX-5 instinctively resonates with extraordinary driving thrills. Here, it’s not power that counts (the small 4-cylinder engine unleashes 167 ponies only). Rather, the key is balance, as in perfect weight distribution. The higher-revving powerplant also allows the driver to further steer this rear-wheel drive toy using the throttle.
Those who prefer a smoother, quieter driving experience won’t be disappointed, either. The MX-5 can make you feel like a race car driver even when you’re nowhere near the legal speed limits… or the car’s, for that matter.
Need convincing? Just row the six gears of the slick-shifting, short-throw manual transmission and your adrenaline won’t stop flowing. Warning: it can become seriously addictive!
That being said, the MX-5 won’t be your best friend during your weekday commute. The cramped cockpit and stiff ride — not good for my old back — will force you to choose your moments on the road.
When these precious moments happen, however, you wouldn’t want to be driving any other car. Hammer the gas pedal and crank up the volume! "Summer loving..."
