Power and Style for a Great Price
I could spend many hours driving in this car. The seats are comfortable for everyone and the driver gets 8-way power adjustable seats on this GT model. Add standard tilt and telescoping steering wheel on all trim levels to find the perfect driving position every time. Legroom for rear passengers is adequate and the 60/40 folding seats give you enough room for your stuff! The trunk on its own is quite large, in fact one of the largest in this class, so you have plenty enough space for people and all their belongings.

I love to put on my music and pump up the volume while I drive. I admit, I sing in my car. The Bose premium audio system that is standard on this model is fantastic! MP3 compatibility is on all trim levels but BlueTooth with Audio Profile is only available on both GT models.

I am driving the GT-V6 with the 3.7L V6 engine with 272hp. The base model with the in-line 4 cylinder puts out 170hp. I think most people will like the base model, but like me, they will fall in love with the more powerful option. Some cars I feel I want the more powerful option, and this is one of them.

You have an in-line 4 with your choice of a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic and then you have the V6 only available with a 6-speed auto. You can get the GS trim or GT trim on either engine choices. Keep in mind that the starting price for the base model, with a manual transmission starts at just over $23,000 and the GT-V6 will start at about $30,195. I know it is a bit more money, but I would have to take the V6 on this car for sure! A bit more money really made this car more fun.

Also keep in mind that if you want to throw in the luxury package ($2,295) and or NAV system ($2,595) on the GT-V6 you will be looking at a price of almost $40,000. The luxury package includes a few great upgrades like push button start, 4-way power adjustable seat for the passenger and Blind Spot Monitor System (BSM).

Behind the wheel, I feel right at home. The steering wheel almost moulds to my hands and the feedback is fantastic. With 269lb-feet of torque this Mazda6 has no problems passing on the highway, or getting off the line, when at a complete stop. I really enjoy how this car handles at higher speeds. The cabin is quiet and I feel solidly planted around every bend. I would describe its handling capabilities as sporty and much fun in the city or on the highway.

The NAV system has a touch screen and it fits nicely into the centre dash. (Photo: Lacey Elliott/Auto123.com)
