Several years ago, Mazda did something very important in the family sedan segment when they built a sedan that was incredible to look at and exceptional to drive. That sedan was called the 6-- and it’s now entered its second generation on sale.

The recently-updated Mazda6 is bigger and more luxurious than its predecessor while keeping true to the spirit of the original. The 2010 model also benefits from more power and a new design language to keep it on the cutting edge of family sedan styling.

Mazda makes their 6 in several trim levels and powered by one of two engines to ensure there’s one that’s perfect for any shopper. The Mazda 6 GS starts the model range at $23,195 with a 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine and 170 horsepower. On the other end of the Mazda 6 spectrum is the loaded GT-V6, which packs a 3.7 litre, 272 horsepower V6 engine. It’s priced from $36,695.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the four-cylinder engine, and a six-speed automatic is standard with the V6. All Mazda6 models are front wheel drive and roll on 17 or 18-inch wheels.

Inside the new 6’s bigger cabin, shoppers can look for a sophisticated and upscale atmosphere completed with Bluetooth phone interface, power seats, push-button engine start and available premium audio. As safe as it is upscale, driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags are fitted to every model. Antilock brakes are also standard across the model range for confident stopping in emergency manoeuvres.

The 2010 Mazda6 is ready for test-drives now.
