The introduction of the Tesla Roadster and the upcoming arrival of the Karma Fisker are proof that a sports car without a high-revving combustion engine can still be exciting and desirable.

Not to be outdone, a French automaker called Exagon Motors have presented their vision of the electric sports car at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, and it’s called the Furtive-eGT.

Claimed to offer room for four passengers and their luggage, the Furtive sports a muscular body complete with air scoops, bulging fenders and dazzling alloy wheels. Subtle details abound, such as pinstripe driving lights and honeycomb patterns in the taillight clusters.

The eGT is equipped with not one, but two electric motors developed by Siemens Corporate Technology. Each motor produces 170 horsepower, which means a total of 340 horses between 5,000 and 10,000 rpm. Saft provides the lithium-ion battery pack that is said to last for 10 years or 3,000 recharging cycles. The Furtive-eGT has a range of 197 to 402 km (123 to 251 miles), depending on how fast you drive it.

A range extender system is optional and can increase the range to over 800 km or 500 miles. The range extender is, in fact, a small combustion engine that acts as a generator and it isn’t connected to the driving wheels, just like the Chevrolet Volt and Fisker Karma.

As for performance, Exagon claims the eGT can bolt to 100 km in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 287 km/h or 179 mph.
