Performance Defines this Upscale Sedan
It’s not that the G37xS is noisy or unpleasant but don’t expect Lexus-level quiet. The engine likes to announce its presence, especially when pressed hard, plus road noise is somewhat evident. Of course, those seeking the performance thresholds of this capable sedan are likely to enjoy its mechanized refrains.

However, such owners may not be as tolerant of the rear seatbacks that don’t fold down to allow open access between the trunk and cabin. Although the trunk is of decent size, it’s not nearly as accommodating as it would be if the rear seatbacks dropped. As if a consolation prize, there’s a small pass-through suitable for skis.

Wrapping the G37xS AWD
I enjoy driving upscale sedans, such as Infiniti’s G37xS, that combine luxury and performance. This example of the segment is more oriented to performance than blissful luxury, which makes it tremendously rewarding to the enthusiast.

Although my tester was equipped with Infiniti’s AWD setup, the system is rear-wheel biased to deliver more of a RWD handling experience—except of course when grip at all four corners is needed. I’m a proponent of AWD and was happy to see my tester so equipped.

If there’s a knock against the G37xS, it is pricing, which begins at $48,540. That puts it slightly north of a premium-equipped Audi A4 quattro.
