The 2011 edition of the Montreal International Auto Show will feature its own lot of original models, and General Motors is snapping up the opportunity to present three new 2012 models that Canadians have yet to behold, the Chevrolet Orlando, Sonic and Camaro Convertible.

Exclusive to the Canadian market, the Orlando is Chevy’s first multifunction vehicle, described as an SUV, a minivan and a wagon all rolled into one. It comes with three rows of seats and room for seven. As the vehicle is very family oriented, all the second- and third-row seats can be completely folded down so you can load pretty much anything.

It also features stability control, six air bags and power rear-view mirrors, all standard. Other options, such as alloy wheels, leather seating, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and dual-zone air conditioning, will also be available.

The Orlando will be powered by a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder engine generating 141 hp and 129 ft-lb of torque, a slightly more potent mill than the Cruze’s. In Europe, the base version (LS) is currently selling for a special launch price of 15,990 euros, around 20,900 CAD. The regular price should hover around 26,400 CAD.

As for the Sonic, it’ll be making its world debut in Canada. Chevy’s new sub-compact will be replacing the Aveo and has been completely redesigned in order to offer more space, style and driving enjoyment. GM openly admitted having drawn inspiration from the Cruze so that consumers view at this car, destined to be Chevrolet’s entry-level offering, under a different light.

Finally, the Camaro Convertible rounds out the list of GM vehicles on display at the upcoming Montreal event. Similar to the coupe that’s already available, this is the same convertible that was exhibited at the Los Angeles show.

It’s motivated by a 312-hp, direct injection V6 that sips 8.1 light litres of fuel per 100 kilometres on the highway. The SS version will boast a 426-hp, 6,2-litre, V8 mill. It will be mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed autobox.
