The compact SUV that started it all
The driver’s seat is incredibly comfortable and I could spend hours sitting in it. The same is true for all the seats. There is just enough legroom for passengers in the second row and an ample amount of headroom for most people.

I love the brushed gunmetal accent on the two-tier instrument panel. The layout is clean and simple. Basic round knobs for heat and air are placed right in the middle for ease of use.

The layout of the dash is very simple. Other manufactures are starting to add more luxurious details and I wish Toyota had included a splash of chrome or some more textures to the overall presentation.

Despite the 3-spoke steering wheel being made of a very hard plastic, I love the shape of it in my hands. The steering wheel-mounted radio controls are perfectly placed for ease of use and standard tilt and telescoping make it easy to find a comfortable driving position.

One of my favorite things about the RAV4 is how smooth it is. Acceleration both off the line and while passing on the highway is wonderful. The interior is a bit noisy on the open road, just a small amount of road noise creeps inside.

The electric power steering has a light feeling, but I like that. It makes this vehicle very manoeuvrable around busy city streets. It is responsive enough that most drivers will be very happy.

I really do feel as though I am driving a big car. No rugged SUV feel to it at all.

The suspension adds to the sensation of sedan-like comfort. It soaks up bumps on the road with ease and is remarkably content on the highway. With the comfortable seats and wonderful suspension, I could easily spend hours behind the wheel.

The Base gets air conditioning, AM/FM CD with MP3, cruise control, power windows and doors and starts at just over $24,500. The Sport adds rear privacy glass, 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels and a sportier exterior. The Limited gives you upgraded audio system, with integrated XM Satellite Radio, eight-way power adjustable driver's seat, power moonroof and more.
