After introducing the 2012 Soul at the New York International Auto Show back in April, Kia has released more details about its funky urban crossover.
The 1.6L and 2.0L engines will be carried over to the new model but fitted with direct injection technology, which will boost their output by 16 and 22 horsepower, respectively.
At the same time, the smaller four-cylinder will burn less fuel thanks to the addition of Kia's new Idle Stop and Go system as well as more efficient six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. While Canadian ratings have yet to be announced, expect the revised Soul to offer substantial savings at the pump over the 2011 version.
The headlights, taillights, mirrors and wheels have all been restyled. Inside, engineers significantly reduced noise, vibration and harshness levels while improving the ride and handling. Many new features, including a tilt and telescoping steering column, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), will come standard.
Top-of-the-line models will receive Kia's UVO voice-activated infotainment system (powered by Microsoft). Also available will be an all-new, 350-watt, seven-speaker Infinity audio system.
