The new Eos should continue to be offered in Comfortline and Highline trim levels. The equipment list, standard or optional, includes adaptive bixenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, a touch-screen navigation with USB port, SD media card slot and hard drive, a 12-way power driver’s seat and Bluetooth connectivity.
Curiously, competitors to the Eos seem few and far between. The Pontiac G6 Convertible is gone, while the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder’s days are numbered. That leaves the MINI Cooper convertible, the BMW 128i Cabriolet and, arguably, the Ford Mustang convertible and Mazda MX-5. Now that we mention it, it’s a pretty tough battlefield for the VW and its conservative styling.
Priced at under $40,000, look for the 2012 Eos this spring.
