What’s New?
Tacoma for 2013 is pretty much the same as 2012 except that Toyota has upgraded the option packages to include more equipment, both as standard and in each of the option groups available. A new package called the “Limited Package” builds on the SR5 Power Package with items such as 18 inch chrome wheels and a JBL stereo with full connectivity as well as other “luxury” oriented items.

Towing
Tacoma has a range of payload capabilities due to the choices available in powertrains. Towing capacity for the Tacoma in regular trim is 1,587 kg (3,500 lb). To increase the towing capacity to its maximum of 2,948 kg (6,500 lb), you must order the SR5 Power Package and the V6 engine. The package is essentially a heavy duty trailer towing package that includes trailer sway control in the seven pin trailer wiring harness and a class IV trailer hitch. Other good items such as a transmission cooler, higher capacity alternator and a host of other convenience items are included.

Interior
Interior upgrades are all part of packages and can include everything from full connectivity such as in the Luxury package to leather, heated seats, in both Access (extended) or double cab configurations.

Power Train

Tacomas can be ordered in 2WD and 4WD with a 2.7 liter inline four that produces 159 horsepower and 180 lb.ft. of torque. All upper trim level 4WD Tacomas come with a 4.0 liter DOHC V6 that puts out 236 horsepower and 266 lb.ft. of torque. The manual transmission for the four is a five-speed and the automatic is a four-speed. The V6 gets a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. A locking diff is available depending on the package ordered.

In Short
Tacoma’s repackaging allows for easily filling the void left by the lack of Colorado and Canyon trucks for 2013.

Fuel Economy
EnerGuide Canada provides a full range of fuel economy ratings for all combinations of Tacoma powertrains. Ratings range from 9.9 l/100 km/7.5 l/100 km for the 2WD four to 12.9 l/100 km/9.6 l/100 km for the V6 4WD automatic.
