Continuing the tradition

Pros: If it’s American luxury you’re after and Cadillac is a little too glitzy for your taste, then Buick’s got you covered. The new 2105 Buick LaCrosse also features 4G LTE2 connectivity thanks to OnStar for hotspot connectivity on the go.

Cons: It’s not exactly an appealing vehicle for anyone under the retirement age. There’s something horribly stereotypically “old” about the Buick LaCrosse (the name just screams retirement home), and the competition is decidedly “younger.”

2015 Buick LaCrosse Price and Fuel Economy: As there are a few different models (five to be exact) to choose from in the Buick LaCrosse lineup, as well as two different engines and two drivetrains, let’s list the set-ups below for pricing and fuel efficiency. All prices are base MSRPs:

2015 Buick LaCrosse $35,763
2015 Buick LaCrosse Leather $40,495
2015 Buick LaCrosse Leather w/AWD $43,645
2015 Buick LaCrosse Premium I (FWD) $42,545
2015 Buick LaCrosse Premium I (AWD) $45,045
2015 Buick LaCrosse Premium II $44,545

2.4L ECOTEC fuel rating
FWD only: 9.6/6.5/8.2L/100km (city/highway/combined)

3.6L V6 fuel rating
FWD: 13.7/8.6/11.4L/100km (city/highway/combined)
AWD: 13.9/9.1/11.7L/100km (city/highway/combined)

Powertrain: As seen above, there are two engines available; a 2.4L ECOTEC and a 3.6L V6. The smaller engine is only available in FWD and on two models, the base LaCrosse and the LaCrosse Leather. Power numbers are as follows; 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. Transmission is a 6-speed automatic with overdrive and Driver Shift Control.

Of note, the ECOTEC engine features eAssist, a deblt-driven liquid-cooled motor generator coupled with a lithium-ion battery system that helps boost power and performance. Max power output from the eAssist Drive System is: 79 lb-ft of torque and an extra 15 horsepower.

As for the larger 3.6L DOHC V6 engine, power is upped to 304 horses and  264 lb-ft of torque.

AWD is only available with the 3.6L mill with Leather and Premium I trims. The 2-15 Buick LaCross Premium II comes with the 3.6L V6 but only with FWD.

Regardless of trim or engine choice, power is handled via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Improvements and Changes: The 2015 Buick LaCrosse remains unchanged from the previous generation.

Cargo Capacity: If you’ve got an eAssist 2015 Buick LaCross your looking at a trunk space in the 306L range. If you’ve go the V6 then that space jumps to 377L. Both seat 5 total.

Safety: All manner of safety features exist on the 2015 Buick LaCrosse including all standard airbags.
