FCA is introducing the all-new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT, the first and only American muscle car equipped with all-wheel-drive, which is said to deliver the performance, power, and all-weather capability to carve through some of the worst weather Mother Nature can dish out.

“The Challenger has always been the most wide-ranging and functional muscle coupe, and now, with the new 305-horsepower all-wheel-drive Challenger GT, we are stretching the functional and geographic boundaries even further,” said Tim Kuniskis, FCA’s North American Head of Passenger Cars.

The Challenger GT features the same high-performance AWD system that’s available in the Dodge Charger with an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect.

Under normal driving conditions, the front axle is disengaged and 100% of the engine’s torque is directed to the rear wheels. This preserves the outstanding fun-to-drive performance and handling characteristics inherent to RWD vehicles. When sensors indicate the need for additional traction, the system automatically engages the front axle, instantly transitioning  the Challenger GT into AWD mode.

A 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine is standard, delivering 305 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and a solid 268 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm.

With production beginning in January, the Dodge Challenger GT is scheduled to arrive at Canadian dealerships during the first quarter of 2017 with a starting MSRP of $38,545.

We can't wait to take it for a spin and share the experience with you. In the meantime, watch the following clip and start dreaming of the possibilities!
