The completely redesigned 2017 Ford Escape made its global debut today at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Two new EcoBoost engines and class-exclusive driver-assist systems are part of the package.
For starters, the next-generation Escape is the first Ford vehicle in the world with available SYNC Connect technology, allowing owners to unlock doors, check fuel level, and even locate where a vehicle is parked using a smartphone app. Meanwhile, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, and forward collision warning are some of the available safety features.
The new EcoBoost engines include a 1.5L unit producing 180 horsepower (standard on SE and Titanium models) and a 2.0L variant rated at 245 horsepower (optional). All 2017 Ford Escapes exploit a 6-speed automatic transmission with available paddle shifters. Base S models get a naturally aspirated 2.5L mill.
The 2017 Ford Escape’s pricing and on-sale date in Canada have yet to be announced.
