As already widely reported, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been extensively redesigned. The braintrust at the manufacturer is aiming to improve its position in the highly competitive compact SUV segment in comparison with its predecessor.
Buyers in this category want style and functionality, in other words a practical, attractive vehicle that makes good use of the space at its disposal. Naturally, saving some money at the pump is another important consideration.
It’s with this in mind that the designers of the new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox set to work in reshaping the SUV. Much time and effort was devoted to the vehicle’s aerodynamics, a commitment reflected in over 500 hours spent in the wind tunnel during the development process. Result? Active front grille shutters, plates under the vehicle and a large rear spoiler help reduce wind resistance in the new model by 10%.
The new Equinox is also shorter and lighter than before, making it easier to manoeuvre, even while the cabin is more spacious by some 100 litres.
