Even more efficient and refined than before

The all-new, tenth-generation 2018 Honda Accord made its global debut last Friday. We showed you a couple of pics as well as official videos posted by Honda, while our contributor Denis Duquet was on hand to take a close look at the car and chat with the people behind it. Don’t miss his detailed feature tomorrow on Auto123.com!

Green car enthusiasts will be happy to learn that the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid is even more refined than before and powered by Honda’s third-generation hybrid system delivering better fuel economy than the outgoing model.

The 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine at the heart of the system boasts greater thermal efficiency than any other mass-produced Honda engine. What’s more, it is paired with Honda-developed electric motors that are the first drive motors in the world to use magnets containing no heavy rare-earth metals. A sophisticated CVT is included, too.

But wait, there’s more: A new, more compact intelligent power unit, containing the hybrid battery pack and its control systems, is now mounted under the rear floor instead of in the trunk, preserving both cargo space (472.9 L) and the flexibility of a 60/40-split and folding rear seat.

Additional information such as performance figures, fuel ratings and equipment details will be announced closer to launch. By the way, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid will again be built in Marysville, Ohio after a couple of years of production in Japan.
