Energi hybrid version will offer 40-km range

Ford has unveiled the first details on the new 2019 Ford Fusion ahead of its launch later this year. The sedan will get some design tweaks and integrate a host of drive assist features, while the range of the energy hybrid version has been extended to 40 km.

In a first for a Ford vehicle, all versions of the 2019 Fusion will feature the Co-Pilot360 system as standard equipment. The technologies that make up this system include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rear backup camera and auto high-beam lighting.

Some Fusion version, like the entry-level SE, will come with a new mechanical setup featuring a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. Some design tweaks, namely touching on the front grille and the back end layout, will separate the 2019 edition from its predecessor, as will the redesigned alloy wheels. New exterior and interior colour options are being made available to buyers as well.

As for the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, Ford promises a longer electric range for the sedan, its new range of 40 km representing an increase of some 20% in comparison with before.

The 2019 Ford Fusion is expected to hit the market at some point this summer.

At press time, the only official information from Ford regarding the new Fusion has come out of the United States. We expect that some changes will be made to the product offer north of the border, particular as it concerns the Energi version. We’ll be keeping you posted as more becomes known!
