The Civic will, for the 3rd straight year, lead all cars for sales in the USA – and we know how well it does here in Canada

Honda is tweaking its Civic Si for 2019, and those tweaks, especially those to do with the interior, are certain to get a warm reception from the model’s legions of fans.

For the past few years, Honda has favoured a multimedia system wherein most of the frequently used commands are hidden within the display’s screens. Exhibit one is the climate control system. Exhibit two is the controls of the audio system. In both cases the manufacturer got lambasted by both consumers and automotive journalists for not providing physical buttons for the basic functions. That’s now a thing of the past. Buyers will be happy to find a volume button, back after several years away. Bluetooth connectivity has also been improved, according to Honda.

The interior of the Civic Si also gets some upgrades such as larger cup-holders, new more-intuitive controls on the steering wheel and an updated switch for activating the emergency brake.

Outside, two colours are added to the list of choices available to consumers. Platinum White Pearl is available for both the sedan and coupe versions, while Tonic Yellow is offered on the Civic Si coupe only.

For the rest, the Civic Si, which by the way is assembled in Ontario, will be powered by the same 1.5L direct-injection turbo engine delivering 205 hp. The model has only the one transmission offered, a 6-speed manual.
