The 2018 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto hosted the premiere of the new 2019 RAM 1500 Sport, the next incarnation of the best-selling RAM truck model in Canada.
“We sold over 100,000 Ram products in Canada last year and we pride ourselves on knowing our customers and listening to their needs. That’s why the all-new 2019 RAM 1500 Sport is being built exclusively for the Canadian market and why we are confident our truck owners will embrace the unique style and capability it offers.”
- Reid Bigland, President and CEO, FCA Canada
Buyers can choose from nine different colours for the monochrome exterior, which is accentuated by a black billet bar grille with R-A-M lettering, LED headlamps with black internal bezels, black hood badging and black side-window trim. Available as an option is a sport hood, while the standard 20-inch wheels can be replaced with black-finish 22-inch wheels.
In back, the new tailgate with integrated spoiler features black badging as well as the new, chiseled all-black Ram’s head logo and a Sport badge. Beneath it all lurks a new integrated dual-exhaust.
The 2019 RAM 1500 Sport is powered by a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine generating 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. A cylinder-deactivation system helps save on fuel, as does the next-generation TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can opt for a 4x2 or 4x4 version, with Quad Cab or Crew Cab.
Speaking of the cab, the new Canadian-only 1500 is decked all in black and includes distinctive trims and accents, such as satin light black chrome highlights, metal trim and a diamond plate-look on the centre stack borrowed from the RAM Rebel. Diesel-grey French accent stitching gussies up the dashboard and instrument cluster, plus the premium glove box is adored with a unique Sport badge.
The sport seats covered in standard cloth and vinyl include a hexagonal insert mesh fabric offered only to Canadian consumers. The available heated and ventilated leather seats also offer a Canadian-only feature: aunique technical embossed texture.
Most of the truck’s other characteristics and features are already offered elsewhere in the new RAM 1500 lineup. The next-generation 2019 RAM 1500 is lighter, stiffer, more powerful and displays more capabilities than before.
