Subaru holds the line on pricing, improves aerodynamics and multimedia features

Subaru has just announced details and pricing for Canada for its 2019 BRZ. While the starting price stays the same as last year, the model does get some updates aimed at improving aerodynamics and upgrading the infotainment system’s technologies.

What’s new
The BRZ gets new aerodynamic winglets on the rear wheel arches and a rear suspension with precise damping.

Inside, Subaru has added its latest new infotainment system with a touchscreen that Subaru promises is quicker and smoother to use than before, and refreshes more quickly. Maps are now updated via smartphone.

The powertrain
The BRZ is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cylinder BOXER engine with direct injection, which develops 205 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque transmitted to the rear wheels by a 6-speed manual transmission. Buyers can also opt for a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and paddle shifter mounted on the steering wheel.

The versions
The 2019 Subaru BRZ will be at Canadian dealerships starting this month, and buyers will be able to choose from three versions: the base-model BRZ, the Sport-Tech and the Sport-Tech RS.

The base-model BRZ is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and an auto-locking TORSEN differential, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED front headlights an rear lights, headlights that turn on when the windshield wipers are activated, single-touch turn signals and welcome lighting.

On board, the BRZ includes the new infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and STARLINK integration, Bluetooth integration with voice activation, streaming audio and SiriusXM satellite radio.

The BRZ Sport-Tech comes with the 6-speed automatic transmission, keyless entry with push-button start, black leather and Alcantara seating with red stitching, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and LED anti-fog lights.

Lastly, the BRZ Sport-Tech RS version is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, SACHS performance shocks, Brembo brakes on all four wheels and 17-inch alloy wheels in gunmetal grey.

The pricing
BRZ     MT     $27,995
BRZ Sport-Tech     AT     $31,295
BRZ Sport-Tech RS     MT     $31,795
