Volvo has revealed the new Cross Country version of its 2019 V60 wagon. The V60 Cross Country edition adds rugged-terrain capability to the model and has been available since 1997.

Care by Volvo
Those interested in acquiring the 2019 V60 Cross Country will be able to do using the automaker’s highly touted new Care by Volvo premium subscription service. This entails consumers signing up for a subscription for a flat monthly fee instead of actually buying the car.

The Cross Country
Ground clearance for the V60 Cross Country is some 75 mm more than in the regular V60, due to a specially developed Cross Country chassis and suspension. All-wheel-drive is standard on the new V60 Cross Country, as are hill descent control, electronic stability control, corner traction control and a special off-road driving mode. Seating position is higher for better visibility.

The 2019 V60 Cross Country is, like the 60 and 90 Series cars, built on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. It also features the same safety, drive assist and infotainment systems.

Volvo Cars’ City Safety with Autobrake is standard technology and helps the driver avoid potential collisions; it’s unique on the market in being able recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals.

The Pilot Assist system provides steering, acceleration and braking support on well-marked roads up to 130km/h. Run-off road mitigation, oncoming lane mitigation and other steering assistance systems are standard, while the available cross traffic alert with autobrake further enhances safety.

The tech
Volvo Cars’ Sensus Connect infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G. The tablet-style touchscreen control combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment apps.

The powertrain
The new V60 Cross Country will be available with a T5 AWD powertrain that includes a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine. Mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are set to follow later on, likely in 2019.
