Jaguar has revealed the new 2020 Jaguar XE sports sedan in images, but in a slightly different way: the automaker commissioned highly detailed paintings by an artist specialized in hype-realistic art.
The car
The design of the 2020 Jaguar XE has been revised with the addition of new front and rear bumpers with larger openings, a redesigned grille and slim full-LED headlights, affording the car a sharper, more aggressive appearance.
Inside, Jaguar has focused on ensuring the XE delivers more comfort, quality and convenience for all occupants. A surfeit of premium materials is used, comfort has been prioritized and care has been taken to improve the storage spaces.
The 2020 XE also features the new advanced technologies including Jaguar’s InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system (as an option) and a 12.3-inch high-def interactive driver display. The new available ClearSight Rear View Mirror transforms into an HD video screen at the flip of a switch to give drivers a wider, unobstructed rear view.
Other technologies include available wireless device charging, a full-colour head-up display and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The artist
British artist Howard Lee created three giant 4.9-by-4.9 ft (1.5-by-1.5m) canvases. The hyper-real works show the updated exterior design and new interior of the revised sports sedan, and the idea was to make it close to impossible to tell the difference between images of the real car and those created by Lee. The paintings took Lee 140 hours to create in all. Check out this video put together by Jaguar:
The 2020 XE will come with two possible engine configurations, the first being the so-called P250 engine that develops 247 hp, and the other the P350 that generates 296 hp. The body makes generous use of aluminum for a lighter overall weight, and handling is enhanced by the presence of double wishbone front and integral link rear suspension. all versions will ride on 18-inch wheels and get standard electric leather seats, premium LED headlights and tail-lights with updated signature graphics, front and rear park aid, rear camera and lane keep assist.
The 2020 Jaguar XE is set to arrive at Canadian dealerships this summer, with a starting price of $49,900.
