Nissan has confirmed it will unveil the next generation of its Vera model next month. The big premiere won’t take place at a car show, however. Instead the new Versa will get its reveal at the Tortuga music festival taking place in Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in Florida, from April 12 to 14.
The automaker provided precious little information about what will be the 2020 Versa. The only conclusion we can draw is that the model will likely hit the market before the end of the current year.
Other than that, we don’ even know what variants will be presented. In Canada, the Versa Note is the only version offered since the Nissna pulled the sedan version from our market. South of the border both iterations are still on the menu. The sedan, you’ll recall, debuted in 2011 while the hatchback followed a year later.
Might we see both versions offered again? The consensus among analysts in the U.S. is that the sedan will be back.
It will be interesting to see if Canada follows, an just as interesting to see how different the hatchback version, should it be presented, will be from the Kicks, model it shares its architecture with.
The question that bears asking is, is there still room on the Nissan roster for the Versa 5-door now that the Kicks is among us?
The presentation of the next-gen Versa is taking place one week before the New York auto show gets underway.
