9 - Even more protection

When a side impact is imminent, the vehicle body can be lifted eight cm by the optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension in just a few tenths of a second. This reduces the loads acting on the occupants by directing the impact forces to particularly strong structures in the lower area of the vehicle.

10 - An enlarged screen

The new central OLED display measures 239.06 mm x 218.8 mm, and has an active screen measuring 12.8 inches diagonally. The screen area is 64 percent larger than the previous model. The driver’s screen measures 291.6 mm x 109.4 mm and is 12.3 inches diagonally.

The next-generation S-Class arrives in Canada in the spring of 2021 and will be offered in a 500 short-wheelbase version as the entry-level model and a 580 long-wheelbase version. Later in the year a plug-in-hybrid version with an announced range of 100 km will follow.

The 500 version is equipped with a 429-hp turbocharged inline-6 engine while the 580 version comes with a 496-hp 4.0L turbocharged V8 engine. Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive.

No pricing has been announced yet.
