Porsche continues to lead the way in the performance EV world with the Taycan, a robust EV that offers a variety of versions including the off-road specific Cross Turismo wagon. Even without the customary flat-6 yowl the brand is known for, the Taycan’s two-speed gearbox and up to 750 hp of oomph means the Taycan remains a driver’s car, through and through.

Add brash styling (with pretty much unlimited colour choices if you go the paint-to-sample route) and it’s not hard to see why the Taycan has been such a hit for the brand.

The Macan EV is on the verge of launching as well, and let’s make a safe bet on it selling even more than the Taycan.

While Rolls-Royce could probably build gas-powered V12 behemoths for all eternity and do just fine, even they aren’t above the law and had to come to the table with an EV model of their own. And in the doing, no doubt cashing in on the EV tech being mastered by parent company BMW.

Its EV is called the Spectre, and like the Bond movie with which it shares a name, this coupe is chock-full of shock, awe and gadgets. Power is rated at 577 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque – this is a Rolls, after all, and torque is king – and you can use all that power over a claimed 465 km of range.

With its swoopy styling, gargantuan wheels, long hood and quintessential British-ness, meanwhile, the Spectre wouldn’t look out of place on-set for the next Bond movie, even if that’s not a thing for another half decade or more.
