With the Lotus Eletre now entering the Canadian market, Natural Resources Canada has published range ratings for the electric SUV's different trims. Depending on the chosen configuration, owners will get from 422 to 467 km of range, in deal conditions of course.
The arrival of the Eletre is notable as it forms part of the new wave of Chinese-made electric vehicles beginning to carve out a place in Canada. Lotus, recall, operates a global EV production hub in Wuhan, China.
Up to 467 km for the Eletre S
The Eletre S Long Range posts the best range in the lineup at 467 km. Its combined energy consumption is rated at 3.1 Le/100 km.
The Eletre S Performance follows very closely behind with an announced range of 460 km and consumption of 3.2 Le/100 km.
On the Eletre R side, which is more performance-oriented, range decreases slightly. The R Long Range version can cover 436 km according to Natural Resources Canada, while the Eletre R Performance brings up the rear with 422 km.
The gap between the two extremes of the range thus reaches 45 km.
A new type of Lotus in Canada
With the Eletre, Lotus moves considerably away from the small sports cars that long defined its image. This all-electric SUV sits on an 800-volt electric architecture and marks the brand's entry into a much broader segment.
Lotus already officially offers the Eletre in Canada starting at $119,900. Its arrival constitutes another step in the diversification of the brand, which has been developing new electric models through operations spread between the UK and China.
