Note that we’ll be driving the 2027 Atlas during the official model launch this fall, so stay tuned for our first drive review.

2027 Volkswagen Atlas – What’s new?

Along with redesigning its SUV, Volkswagen has enhanced the levels of standard equipment. The Comfortline trim notably receives a power tailgate with hands-free functionality, rear door sunshades, front and rear parking sensors and two 15W Qi2 wireless charging pads.

The trim also features 18-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, remote start, heated steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen.

Heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control and leatherette upholstery are also included as standard equipment.

The Highline trim adds 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, 15-inch infotainment screen, head-up display, 360-degree camera and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Second-row captain's chairs are offered for $700.

The Execline R-Line
Offered at $63,995, the Execline R-Line focuses more on a distinctive design with model-specific bumpers, a blackened grille, and 21-inch wheels. Onboard, Volkswagen notably adds Nappa leather seats and an enhanced massage function for both front occupants.

Powertrain of the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas

Under the hood, Volkswagen replaces the current engine with a new evolution of the turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder block. It develops 282 hp (13 more than before) and 258 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and allows a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lb.

Volkswagen says it expects an improvement in fuel consumption despite the increase in power. We’ll know more about that when we drive it this fall.

Regardless of the chosen trim, all 2027 Atlas models sold in Canada come standard with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

A hybrid... later
A hybrid version is already planned, but it is not expected to arrive until the mid-cycle refresh.

Finally, all 2027 Atlas models include a maintenance program covering the first three years or 45,000 km.
