The 2007 GMC Yukon Denali is one of those vehicles that you don't need to add any options to, which seems fair considering it carries a sticker of $65,990.

But you can take this "highly competitive" price and get it to $70,000 if you really want to, and my bet it that a lot of you will really want to because there are one or two compelling options available.

First off, however, it's worth noting what you get for the entry-level price of the brand new sport-brute from General Motors. The heart of the equipment has to be the 6.2-litre V-8 that sends 380 hp to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and delivers better fuel economy than the previous model.

But the standard equipment also includes a bigger, better and quieter interior, a more refined and professional-looking exterior shape, and improved driving dynamics. These are the types of things a Yukon Denali owner will also appreciate every day.

If the occupants of the 2007 Denali are lucky, they will never have to appreciate the safety benefits of a stability control system, head curtain side airbags, and the crash-notification aspect of GM's exclusive OnStar safety-security system.

Other standard equipment on the 2007 Yukon Denali version includes 18-inch wheels and tires, a segment-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second row seat, heated first and second row seats, a power liftgate, and remote start.

"GMC has upped the ante with the 2007 Yukon Denali," says Cathy Mowat, GM of Canada's marketing manager for utility vehicles. "The 2007 Yukon Denali model offers a premium package of performance, amenities and style at a very compelling price point."

But for those consumers who simply have to have more, Mowat's marketing team has come up with a few interesting option packages, some of which feature variations on a theme.

The 2007 Yukon Denali options include:

-A 20-inch Tire and Wheel Package with four 20"x8.5" Chromed Aluminum Wheels and four P275/55R-20 all-season blackwall tires for $1,565.

-For $1,255, there's an electronically-tuned AM/FM Stereo with MP3 compatible CD/DVD player, an auxiliary input jack, seek-scan, digital clock, auto-tone control, speed-compensated volume, TheftLock and Radio Data

System with a Rear Entertainment System that includes a DVD player with remote control, overhear display, two sets of two-channel wireless infrared headphones, and auxiliary audio/video input jacks.

-There's also Navigation Radio with Voice Recognition for $2,915, which Mowat says combines multimedia functions with navigation. There's an electronically-tuned AM/FM Stereo with MP3 compatible CD player, auxiliary input jack, seek-scan, digital clock, auto-tone control, speed-compensated volume, TheftLock and Radio Data System.
