Ford has issued a recall of around 350,000 2018 F-150 trucks and Expedition SUVs equipped with either the 6-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission.
The recall is related to a part that ensures that the gear shift cable stays in place and keeps the transmission in the desired gear. The part, a clip, may become partially seated or dislodged and cause the transmission to move into a different gear than chosen by the driver.
“This could allow the driver to move the shifter to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission gear may not be in park, with no instrument panel warning message or warning chime when the driver’s door is opened that indicates the vehicle is not secured in park.”
