Ask the people you know to name an Acura model, and you can be pretty sure that the Integra and its successor, the RSX, will come up most often. The first was a fire-breathing, corner-carving machine, while the second, less surgically precise, was a unique exercise in style for its time.
If you’re among those who are clamouring for their return, keep your fingers crossed because the Japanese automaker is reportedly poised to do just that. But don’t jump to conclusions, though, as the information hasn’t been confirmed by the interested parties.
According to Motor Trend, the RSX would use the same powertrain as the new 2012 Honda Civic Si, i.e., a 2.4-litre, 201-hp, four-cylinder mill, as well as a six-speed transmission. Unfortunately for us, that’s the only info we’ve got at the moment.
It seems that Acura is looking to revive flagging sales by resorting to the same formula that made it so popular not too long ago. Would the RSX’s potential comeback and the development of a hybrid successor to the mythical NSX be enough to make consumers flock to Acura dealerships once again?
