TestFest is well behind us. As a group, we've talked and discussed the event from top to bottom, looking back at the vehicles that struck us and those that failed to leave any type of impression. As we pondered the 2010 crop of cars, we realized that our picks for COTY and TOTY differed very much from one another. Whether it's an age issue related to personal preference or other, we are looking forward to the results. One thing is certain though, the Germans seem to be on to something.
Meanwhile, here are some opinions from some of our experts:
Luc Gagné
I would gladly hand over the title of AJAC Car Of The Year to the Audi S4, a high performance, luxurious and refined sedan. However, I firmly believe that this award must go to a car that is attainable by all. For this reason, I wish to see the Volkswagen Golf wagon TDI take home the trophy. Its price point, versatility and incredible performance and economy from the diesel engine justify this car as my personal pick.
As for the TOTY, the proposed trio is an odd one: a high-heeled hybrid CUV, a posh real-world adventurer that runs on diesel and a station-wagon that thinks it’s an SUV. Regardless, considering its reasonable price, its frugal engine, its comfortable and welcoming cabin and its impressive off-road capabilities, I'm hoping that the Subaru Outback takes home the crown.

The winner for the Car of the Year will be the Ford Taurus. Many reasons can explain this: First of all, Ford is on a winning streak and the Taurus will benefit from this. The car also has strong personal qualities, as far as its drive and design are concerned, but it also rekindles the Ford brand in a segment it used to rule. In a nutshell, it combines numerous positive aspects that will influence its market.
