Andros Trophy: Franck Lagorce wins Day 2 in Andorra (+photos)

Franck Lagorce (Skoda Fabia) set the pace during the second day of the Andros Trophy event held in Andorra this week-end, while Alain Prost (Dacia Duster) took back the lead in the point standings.

Lagorce not only dominated his rivals in the qualifying rounds, but also in his final heat. Lagorce took the overall victory on day 2 ahead of Jean-Luc Pailler (BMW Serie 1) and Alain Prost (Dacia Duster).

Prost nevertheless took back the lead of the championship after  briefly loosing it in Day 1 winner Jean-Philippe Dayraut (BMW). Dayraut could not secure better than a ninth 9th position on day 2 and therefore dropped back to 2nd place in the championship standinga.

After he struggled a bit during Race 1, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve improved his performances on day 2, in his Skoda Fabia. The Canadian driver set the 8th best performance in the first qualifying round, and took 13th overall in qualifying.

Ultimately, Villeneuve finished 3rd in his final heat, which puts him in 12th place overall at the end of the day. Villeneuve now stands in 12th position in the championship standing.
