Two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion Andrew Ranger won today's ARCA Racing Series' ModSpace 150 at the New Jersey Motorsports Park after having been forced to start from the back of the grid.
The 24-year old Canadian had won the pole Saturday but had to take the start at the back of the starting grid after his team was forced to change his engine at the end of qualifying.
Ranger pulled off a daring pass of Australian George Miedecke - also in his ARCA debut - on the final turn before the white flag. Ranger held on to the advantage over the last of 67 laps around New Jersey Motorsports Park's 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway to win by 2.059 seconds.
"It's unbelievable," Andrew Ranger said. "I credit my team. We blow that engine last night after qualifying, and they prepared me this morning and gave me a perfect car. It's amazing."
Chad McCumbee, Tim George Jr., and Tom Hessert rounded out the top five while Maryeve Dufault from Sorel, Quebec, finished 21st.
